Considering Twitter as part of your Internet marketing?… but who will do it?

If you are considering Tweeter as part of your Internet marketing strategy, very probably you vahe two concerns on your mind: 1) What am I going to write  about?… 2) Who is going to do it?

Well, as all serious strategies, you need a plan, a schedule  and assigned people with specific responsabilities. A quick checklist would be:

  1. Define a content blueprint that specifies the topics around which your company wants to be writing.
  2. Plan a schedule that defines whcih topic will be covered, with which periodicity and  and when. If you have several topics then you will visit each topic every certain number of days or weeks, then movve to the other topics and finally come back after a full cycle.
  3. Once you have a schedule with topics and dates, assign reponsabilities to specific people in your team. If you do not have the resources then hire an outsourcung service that manages your content development efforts, writes, optimizes and posts the content. It is not expensive and if you sign for several months, you can usually do it for an affordable retainer.
  4. Start the program, measure and engage. Remember that some of your postings in Twiiter will get responses so be prepared to answer, thank or take action.

Done correctly, Twitter do requires resources but they pay back and if you really promote your Twitter account with contacts, customers and prospects, you will be amazed of the benefits of having a two way communication chanel between your company and its community.

A word of caution: do not try to do it all by yourself as the emotion will last only a couple of weeks and then the day-to-day operation will always be more important than maintaining your Twitter strategy, get help from professionals. — Yes Twitter is free but your time is not and if you are to concentrate on your beusines, then you need somebody to concentrate on your Internet marketing strategy.
