Email marketing strategy: HTML or not-HTML ?
Mostly everybody agrees that most of your email marketing pieces should be created in HTML so you can communicate a great image. Nevertheless, you’ll find your audiences are increasingly looking at your messages without images turned on (it may not be their choice, but rather the default of their email client or a corporate IT policy). Make sure your messages have good HTML design but still readable and compelling without images. This may mean designing messages using fewer images, or including a short list of articles at the top of your newsletter. This technique works well for people who are viewing your message through a preview pane as well. Making sure enough content is placed at the top of the message to give recipients something to act on will be important to success rates.
When the receipient wishes and can read a ich HTML message, then a professional HTML template can improve your image and build credibility increasing clickthrough rates. If you want ot provide both, an HTML version and a text version, include a link at the top of your email that directs readers to a text version if they want to.
The most popular email systems in the market provide HTML templates for you to creat attractive email pieces and you can also have a design made externally and import it into the tool. Be sure that the different call to action buttons are linked into the measurement system so you can measure how many people click on each call to action button, this can be accomplished easily with your email tool and a its editors.
