7 Tips on how to build an outbound river of information strategy in your company

7 tipsHere are some basic tips for you to start your own strategy for writing and publishing content for an outbound river of information:

  1. Start by listening.- learn from the masters, build your own river of information by learning how companies like HubSpot, Marketign Profs, WhitePaperSource, Forrester, eMarketer, Adobe, do it.
  2. Design a “content blue print”.- you need a plan that defines the topics you need to write about, these topics need to be aligned with the strategic goals of your company and answer to the question “if we are going to be perceived as experts, on which topics do we need to position ourselves?”
  3. Assure your “content blue print” is also aligned with your other online marketing strategies as your SEO (search engine optimization) because the correct use of keywords, links and contents in the “writing and publishing strategy” should leverage the efforts being done through your SEO strategy.
  4. Build a Publishing Schedule.- one you have your topics, build a calendar for each content  release, and assure that publishing dates are also aligned with important events that you know will take place, with marketing trends and with important industry events.
  5. Assign topics to your writers  in advance so they know what they need to write about and can start drafting their content with time.
  6. Implement your distribution network.- if your will publish through your blog, then plan the social networks that your blog will feed and build the connectors so your blog can be posted real time on your Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts,  plan which articles might also be announced through a press release and through an email marketing communication.
  7. Insert all the necessary metrics.- measure traffic to your blog and your website, and build a metric dashboard where you can record all interactions, from readers and followers to prospects being driven to your sales department that can be related to your content publishing.
