Some ideas for your writing and publishing strategy so you can build rivers of information continuously.
We have been talking about generating rivers of information so other people follow you, read you and engage to your content as a means of gaining brand positioning and prospects that will eventually contact you or your company because of your expertise in a certain subject and the value you have added through your content.
One of the questions that comes to mind is, “how can I generate content to keep the river flowing?” And it is a legitimate worry, inspiration tends to dry and the strategy requires that your content be valuable.
- If your company has experts, invite them to write, build the responsibility into their goals, through a contest or provide an incentive and always let them get the credit for their content.
If you do not have sttaf to help your, here are some ideas to source valuable content for your blog:
- If you read a valuable piece of information from somebody that does not compete with you, you can write a summary around that article, provide all the credits and invite the reader to go directly to the article through a link you provide.
- Build your inbound river of information where you can get info and inspiration.
- If there is topic for which you can write a lot of content, maybe you can write a long piece for one or two weekend afternoons and then divide your writing into many articles that can be scheduled for 10 or 20 days so you do not have to be writing every day.
- If you know people that could write something interesting, invite them as contributors.
- If you know of somebody that launched an interesting initiative, has an interesting experience, invite them for an interview and report the interview through your blog, you can even create a video blog for this (not many resources needed but ye, it takes more time and not everybody feels comfortable in front of a camera)
- Invite students to write essays around the topic and give them three minutes of fame by publishing them with the corresponding credits.
- If your blog is open to comments, then every week or month, compile them and publish a summary.
There are many ways to prepare content for to publish through your river of information, but yes, it requires a plan and sometimes other priorities might be on top… if you have an organization then assign the task to a public relations, marketing or investor relations manager, if not, then add this task to your own responsibilities and get to it, and if non of this work, hire a professional agency to help you.
